Penicillins are a group of antibiotics used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. They are derived from fungi, and their medical properties were discovered in 1928. Penicillin antibiotics stop bacteria from multiplying by preventing bacteria from forming the walls that surround them. The walls are necessary to protect the bacteria from their environment, and to keep the contents of the bacterial cell together. Bacteria cannot survive without a cell wall. Penicillin antibiotics are most effective when bacteria are actively multiplying and forming cell walls.
Penicillin ELISA Kit Principle
This Penicillin ELISA Kit is based on indirect competitive ELISA, the coupled penicillin antigen was pre-coated in the microwells, the penicillin will compete for the antibody with the pre-coated antigen, then add HRP enzyme conjugate and TMB substrate successively, the OD value of the sample is negatively correlated with the content of penicillin concentration in the sample. The standard curve is fitted by regression and multiplied by the corresponding dilution ratio to obtain the content of penicillin in the sample.
Kit Components
This penicillin ELISA kit is a readily commercial product, it has the following components, which is sufficient for 42 testing in duplicated wells. Please always check the kit instruction manual for packaging details.
- Microtiter plate, 96wells,
- Standard controls, 6 vials,
- Enzyme conjugate, 1 vial,
- TMB substrate, 1 vial,
- Sample buffer, 1 vial,
- Wash buffer, 1 vial,
- Stop solution, 1vial,
Specificity and sensitivity
The kit has cross reactions with more than 14 penicillin drugs, including penicillin G, amoxicillin, ampicillin, cephalosporins, etc. The sensitivity is 0.05ng/mL.
Result determination
The sample OD value is measured by an ELISA reader, then the standard curve is plotted. We recommend 4PL regression model or cubic spline. You can also choose logit-log model if you don’t have a specific software to calculate.
Storage and expiry
2-8 degree Celsius for at least 12 months.
Caution
- This kit is for research use only.
- The standard solution in the kit is penicillin G.
- Please read the kit instruction manual carefully before testing.
- Each run will take 60min or more, please schedule your time before experiment.
